Lady Gaga has dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for V Magazine's New York issue. Gaga appears with a tuxedo-clad Marc Jacobs on the cover of the magazine in a photo by Mario Testino. "Just as the Statue of Liberty was France's gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York's greatest gift to pop culture and fashion," V editor Stephen Gan said in an announcement. "She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city's creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city. In the year that's passed, she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse. Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who've done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!"

The 'Bad Romance' singer's former tour manager, David Ciemny, claims she would binge on junk food such as cakes and sweets, then not eat for weeks to fit into her costumes - once losing 20lbs between fittings for one of her outfits.

Describing her condition, David says in Maureen Callahan's new book 'Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga': "When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally." Talent scout Wendy Starland added: "The pressure on her to lose weight was very high."

Also in the book, David's wife Angela claims she used to accompany Gaga on tour alongside her husband, and the 'Paparazzi' singer would cuddle up to her in bed before performances. She said: "I would say, 'Gaga, I have a husband to go home to. I'll be in the room next door.' "She'd call and text me, 'I miss you, Ange, can you come back?' So I would. "We literally would do our make-up together every morning and get ready for bed together at night." Despite six hospital stints last year, the 24-year-old star's health problems have continued into 2010, with her being forced to cancel four US shows in January suffering from an irregular heartbeat, brought on by exhaustion. She also broke down in New Zealand in March and has recently tested "borderline positive" for Lupus, a tissue disease which killed her aunt.

Gaga has previously admitted to being "insecure", but claims she hides behind her onstage persona. She said: "When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, 'B***h, you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today."

Lady Gaga and Coldplay's Chris Martin performed at Apple's annual new-product-announcement event. The superstar in his own right, Steve Jobs, brought the pop stars to the stage at the launch of the new line of iPods and a social music social network site called Ping.

The soulful Chris Martin sung an unreleased song "Wedding Bells" to the crowds delight. While Lady Gaga officially launched the website, Ping. Jobs was launching the revamp iPod Shuffle, which brings back the finger controls form the tiny Nano on a touch screen.

Chris Martin played first before Jobs brought out Lady Gaga to introduce the latest innovation the website, Ping. The music focused network will have a potential 160 million users per day and will include upcoming iTunes updates. Job's said "Users can follow their favorite artists and friends, see what they're listening to and downloading, post opinions and thoughts on music and browse concert listings on the new service." Lady Gaga was brought on by Apple as an example of her using the Ping site and Twitter to communicate with her fans. She appeared in a pre-taped video promoting the product. However the biggest buzz about her appearance and involvement is that Apple deleted some of her tweets which referred to the recent overturning of anti gay-marriage legislation Proposition 8 in California, according to Gawker.

Here's the exclusive preview of "Fame: Lady Gaga," the comic book biography of MTV's 2009 Woman Of the Year. Published by Bluewater Comics, the issue performed well enough to merit an encore performance, igniting controversy and creating quite a bit of buzz — just like the musician herself. This November, the publisher sends "Fame: Lady Gaga" back to the shelves with a new comic focusing more on her career instead of her personal life and impact on the cultural landscape. Still, the comic promises to feature "all the hairstyles, stage blood, drama and costumes that make Lady Gaga impossible to ignore." Written by CW Cooke with art by Dan Glasl, the 32-page comic hits shelves in November. I've posted the full text of the announcement below.

LADY GAGA RETURNS TO THE PAGES OF BLUEWATER'S FAME COMIC BOOK SERIES

Lady Gaga can't help but ignite controversy. In May, Gaga starred in her own Bluewater Productions comic book, Fame: Lady Gaga. The comic sold out in just one week, but it also divided fans because of its unconventional approach to telling the singer's life story. Fame: Lady Gaga was not a traditional biography. Some liked this approach. Many did not.

This November, Bluewater will revisit Gaga and her amazing ascendancy to the top ranks of pop stardom. Fame: Lady Gaga 2 will hit comic book shops and online retailers such as Amazon.com in November. The 32-page comic will retail for $3.99.

Unlike the first Lady Gaga Bluewater comic, which will be available in a second printing in September, take two will focus more closely on Gaga's career, from her days singing in nightclubs to her rise as one of the top-selling performers in the music industry.

Along the way, Fame: Lady Gaga 2 will include all the hairstyles, stage blood, drama and costumes that make Lady Gaga impossible to ignore.

CW Cooke, the writer of the new biography, said that working on the comic presented an opportunity for him to learn more about the performer's long journey to stardom. "Working on this book was a privilege, just like working on all the comics I've written to date," Cooke said. "Just looking behind the curtain at this person and learning who they are shows you that they're not just this famous thing. They are real."

Artist Dan Glasl said that capturing the many moods, and costumes, of Gaga presented him with an opportunity to showcase some real artistic flair. "I had a blast working on this book, drawing all the crazy outfits and outrageous hairstyles, and I really think fans of Lady Gaga will enjoy reading about her life and path to stardom," Glasl said.

Bluewater Productions' biography line of comics has gained attention from such mainstream media as the Washington Post, New York Times and National Public Radio. In addition to its earlier Lady Gaga comic, the company's books on Michael Jackson, Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin and Robert Pattinson have recorded big sales numbers.

Bluewater also publishes fiction comics, everything from superheroes and horror to science fiction and young adult. Many of its fiction comics, such as Nanny and Hank and its Logan's Run series have earned strong reviews. The late musician's wife, Yoko Ono, is organising two concerts with her We Are Plastic Ono Band in Los Angeles to celebrate her late husband and many stars have signed up to take part. The project will be helmed by the couple's son, Sean, and will also feature hip hop producer the RZA, Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and noise rock group Sonic Youth's members Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore.

Speaking of the planned events Yoko said: "The fact that this year is John's 70th birthday year is very special for us all. "We are all together celebrating John for having given us so much good energy in his lifetime and now." The widow of former Beatle John - who was assassinated in 1980 - will also hold her annual lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower on the island of Vioey, off the coast of Iceland on October 9th. This can be viewed around the world via a live video feed at imaginepeace.com.

Yoko will also present the LennonOno Grant for Peace biannual award and a special concert with Sean Lennon will take place on the island after the ceremony. Yoko explained to RollingStone.com: "A tribute concert for John given by Sean and I that evening will be the icing on the cake!" Record label EMI are also planning to mark the singer's birthday by reissuing his solo albums, along with some previously unreleased home recordings.
